About
Metafluence is my, Justin Kistner, professionally oriented blog covering Internet strategy, web design, business practices, and other points of interest. I post to promote my work, make friends, and give back to a community that first gave to me.
About Justin Kistner

Standing on the track at MIS just before my first NASCAR race. I went with my girlfriend’s family, who have a spot in the infield on turn two.
In four words or less, I am a “geek with social skills”. I am passionate about the Internet not only because I love technology, but I think it is the most beautifully disruptive force on the planet. To keep myself grounded, I spend time with my friends and family doing outdoor activities, cooking, and partying. Driving my VW GTI also helps, especially on the overpasses on the east side of the Willamette river. I’ve been known to lay down some sweet beats on the drums. And, a good bottle of single malt, Islay-style Scotch is a good thing to me. I particularly enjoy trying new things.
I placed some links in the footer to other sites where I participate online. Feel free to check me out at those connection points as well!
Metafluence FAQs
- What does Metafluence mean?
- Metafluence is one’s ability to connect the dots withing a system that aren’t visible on the surface. It’s a portmanteau mashing up the word “meta”, which means something on an abstraction level higher than the current, and “fluent”, which speaks to how smoothly one operates within a given system. I use it to refer to my ability to make connections between things on the Internet that aren’t available to the untrained eye.
- What’s the deail with the fish?
- My logo began as my developer marque for a previous company. It was based on Aldus Manitus’s marque of the swiftest creature in the sea wrapped around an anchor to remind himself to “make haste slowly”. After striking out on my own, I decided to drop the anchor from the marque. It also works nicely to represent the idea behind Metafluence, which is about connecting the dots below the surface. - Where did you get this WordPress theme?
- I made it. :) It’s called Conversation. I’m working on support documentation for it now and will release it for free download soonly.
