I think Twitter is twittered out
Twitter is always down. It makes me want to stop using it. But, I just made this sweet Twitter talk balloon that I can update using my phone. So, maybe that damn cat needs to not work on server updates.

Metafluence is my blog that focuses on graphic and web design, Internet strategy, web development business practices, and industry points of interest. I continue loading the admin of my Wordpress blog day in and day out because I like connecting with people. It also gives me warm fuzzies to post on here because I know I learned about web development by reading other people's blogs. If you read something on here that you like, feel free to leave me a comment, ask me a question, and/or introduce yourself. If you need some help formulating a strategy for your website or defining a project before hiring professional web development company, I am available for strategic Internet consulting.
Wait, you’re complaining about bad service from a completely free service?
I attended a presentation at RailsConf on scaling Twitter, given by a couple guys who work on it. Check out these numbers:
* 200-300 connections per second
* Can spike to 800 connections per second, has been up to 11,000
* MySQL spiked to 2,400 queries per second
That’s a lot to deal with. And that’s just the API, not including the web site. Imagine the cash they pay out every month to keep this thing going…not to mention the huge cost of the SMS gateways.
So, cut them a little slack because you can’t tell everyone that you’re eating chili from your phone.

Those are some crazy numbers! I’m still going to be a demanding consumer and say that if they can’t figure it out, people will ditch the service, even if it is a legitimately difficult problem. Perhaps they need multiple data centers like Google?
