Like ETFs in the financial market

It occurred to me when I was typing up my first daily surf post that information organizes in clusters. Blogs are one type of information cluster. Most people supplement their blog posts with things they find elsewhere on the Internet. Creating a type of focus around the information they link to.

Thinking about these things reminded me of a conversation I had with Marshall about BoingBoing. He was sharing with me that BoingBoing just watches a list of lesser known blogs and they repost what the find and then promote themselves.

There are self assembling tastemaking clusters out there. If one pays attention to the right ones then they can see future tastes before they occur. Find the right mix of lesser known clusters and then form a new refined cluster.

I’m going to start setting aside time to specifically surf for recreation and notate my findings on my MySpace blog. I’m going in search of lesser known veins.

My goal is to develop a few Internet properties. A mass market vein and some specialty veins.

What say you about all of this?
