Request for suggestions on posting smaller content chunks
So, there’s a ton of information I come across on the Webernet that I’d love to add to my blog, but don’t quite warrant a full post. I’m looking for ideas about how I can write microposts. I’m thinking one sentence posts that aren’t in my full post column/feed that would appear in a third column. I don’t always have a link, so I don’t think pulling a feed from a social bookmarking tool is the right solution, but I would like a bookmarklet or a widget to enter the microposts.
Thoughts?

I think the answer to your problems would betwitter. People either love it or hate it.
I’m sure there’s also several wordpress/twitter plugins that would allow for seamless integration.

This comes as standard for the theme I’m using - Redoable by Dean J Robinson. I don’t know how much PHP you know, but I wouldn’t imaging that it would be a major job to rip the bit you want out of Redoable and stick it in your theme… They’re both based on K2 at the end of the day!
I have it set up to put anything marked with the ‘asides’ category into the third column - and the new version (which I’m not running) doesn’t force you to have a link as the title.
Hope this helps!

Chris - Nice to hear from ya! :)
I was thinking about Twitter, which is why I installed it on my sidebar. Can you use HTML in Twitter?

Paul - Right on. I think that’s what I want to try. I think I know enough PHP to do that surgery. Thanks for the lead!

No problem! Good luck with it! :)

I think it takes textile, though it only takes so many characters so most people use tinyurl.

I see you got it working. Looks good.

I was going to suggest putting a Twitter badge in your sidebar, but it seems you’ve got the comment already. Although html (I’m not an expert) doesn’t seem to work, you can put URL or tinyURL if need be. Text per post in Twitter is limited to 140 characters. You can ‘redesign’ the badges they give you if you have the ‘know how’.

Camille - I just placed that Twitter code under my “About” module in the top of my sidebar. I still need to stylize it, which I think I’m going to do by making it look like a talk bubble. :)

Interesting Justin… are you still using the twitter badge? I see some text ‘customizing my twitter badge to look like a talk bubble about 16 hours ago’ under your “About” module but nothing framing it?
Just wonder how it’s going…

Camille, I just completed the talk bubble. What do you think of it?
