Several months ago I wrote a post about how to hack a MySpace account. About half of the comments left on that post where from people who have had their MySpace profiles hacked and would like to know how to recover it. This post is for all of you who want to reclaim their stolen profiles. :)
The first thing you want to try is forgot password feature (this is the fastest option). If your compromised account hasn’t had the email address changed, then MySpace will email you the current password and you can use that to login and change your password. Don’t change it back to your old password or you’ll just lose your account again.
If the email address for the account has been changed, then you need to send a salute to MySpace to prove you are who you say you are. A salute is a photo you take of yourself that is you holding a handwritten sign with your MySpace profile address on it, such as this one:
Don’t post your salute in a public place. Many people post salutes on other people’s profiles and this leaves a possible exploit. The above photo is via BoingBoing, which points out that in this modern age, it’s not hard to fake a salute using Photoshop, especially if you’ve already posted one somewhere else.
